Mobile Satellite Ventures introduces the MSAT-G2 Mobile Satellite Radio, a powerful new communications tool that works where you do. The new MSV MSAT G2 two-way radio was developed by MSV to address the increasing needs and demands of public safety and emergency response personnel and first responders, which include: interoperability with Land Mobile Radio systems; access to multiple agencies and talk groups; as well as GPS, which enables emergency management coordinators to know the exact location of their people.

Designed for use on the MSAT Network, the MSAT-G2 supports continent-wide satellite Push-to-Talk (PTT) Dispatch Radio and Circuit Switched Voice communications. In addition to providing users with the full suite of Dispatch Radio Service functions and features, the lightweight MSAT G2 , dual-service handset offers a GPS display feature, a backlight control for the keypad and display and a headset jack. The compact MSAT G2 Hughes 2100 radio transceiver features Ethernet and DB9 serial ports to enable GPS output and interconnectivity to 3rd party interfaces which extends the reach of traditional Land Mobile Radio technology.

MSAT G2 models include the MSAT-G2 LM for mobile operations/applications and the MSAT-G2 F for fixed site or hardened type of installations.

Dispatch Radio

Mobile Satellite Ventures Dispatch Radio Service allows work crews, drivers, search and rescue teams, firefighters, and others to stay in touch and get the job done virtually anywhere.

The two-way group communications capability allows one user to talk to many, or users can conduct private one to one conversations utilizing the MSAT G-2 Hughes satellite telephone radio. The service is a cost-effective alternative to installing, maintaining, and relocating land-based two-way radio communications systems.

The Dispatch Radio Network is made up of the following components:

  • Mobile Terminal MSAT-G2 LM Land Mobile unit or MSAT-G2 Fixed Site unit
  • MSV Satellite
  • Satellite Hub and CGS
  • Dispatcher

About Mobile Satellite Ventures

Mobile Satellite Ventures is North America’s premier provider of mobile satellite communications. Delivering service since 1996, MSV offers customers a wide choice of wireless data, voice, fax and dispatch radio services via its existing U.S. and Canadian licensed satellites. MSV provides superior capacity and reliability for customers across North America, northern South America, Central America, the Caribbean, Hawaii and in coastal waters.

MSV is developing the next generation hybrid wireless network that will use a powerful satellite constellation working in unison with MSV’s patented ancillary terrestrial component (ATC) technology to deliver seamless wireless services to end-users over standard wireless devices.

Dispatch Radio Service

To direct and redirect your fleet reliably, Mobile Satellite Ventures Dispatch Radio Service offers two-way voice dispatch or one-way voice broadcast service. It's a cost-efficient alternative to land-based radio communications systems.

Not only can you implement the service almost overnight, you don't have to build and maintain your own private network, which minimizes capital costs and eliminates network support costs altogether.

The MSV network acts much the same as a radio tower, turning the entire continent into a single cell and transmitting signals to and receiving signals from subscribers on the ground. Dispatch Radio Service can also be configured to provide extra security to your subscribers.

Customize your communication with talk groups

Dispatch Radio Service relies on establishing talk groups - sets of users who share a common radio channel. Each MSAT terminal can support up to 15 talk groups. While users can belong to more than one talk group, each talk group can include as many as 10,000 members. When establishing talk groups, priority levels can be predetermined in order to define who will be permitted to listen and speak during each session.

Users also have the ability to dial-in to a talk group from the PSTN or dial-out from a talk group to the PSTN.

Dispatch Radio Service features and benefits:

  • Priority 1 interrupt - in emergencies, a user can override other users within the same talkgroup. You can set a talkgroup to one of three different priority levels, which allows users to filter out conferences on low-priority talkgroups unless that talkgroup is selected. High-priority talkgroup conferences are always heard no matter which talkgroup is selected.

  • Network flexibilityMSAT Terminals can be interfaced with existing terrestrial fleet communications infrastructures.

  • Interoperability talkgroups can be configured to allow for interagency communications between local, regional, and national emergency response organizations.

  • Coverage Adaptabilitythe footprint allows subscribers to expand or reduce dispatch radio coverage as their needs change.

  • Network reliabilitySatellite networks perform during emergencies when land-based communications are not available.

  • Secure Communications the network employs the IMBE (Improved Multi-Band Excitation) voice codec approved by the Association of Public Safety Communications. Digital coding and scrambling prevents casual eavesdropping or monitoring of calls.

Dispatch Radio Service can help people in numerous industries and occupations do their jobs more effectively:

  • Homeland Security
  • Public Safety
  • Emergency Response
  • Transportation
  • Rail
  • Mining
  • Oil and Gas
  • Forestry
  • Utilities
